How it works

The basic premise behind the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program is eating the right foods at the right time, or at the right frequency. Simply put, this program strives to help your body's metabolism operate optimally so that significant weight loss can be achieved. On the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program, one does not starve oneself; in fact, portion sizes are not regulated. The guidance given is common in the world of dieting: Eat until you are almost full.

“Fat Loss 4 Idiots proposes a fool-proof 11 day diet plan where you create your own diet by eating 4 meals a day and lose 9 pounds every 11 days. It is basically a low-carbohydrate, low fat and high protein diet where you rotate your food combinations in order to trick the metabolism into not becoming a creature of habit. This allows the body’s metabolism to function at its optimum level rather than storing unnecessary fat and toxins.

What the Heck is Calorie Shifting?

Basically, it comes down to eating. There is no exercise involved in this plan. As a matter of fact, according to one reviewer, if you exercise a lot, you shouldn’t follow the plan word for word: “…people that get a lot of exercise, and hour or more a day, may find that the diet does not offer enough calories.” The eating, however, seems to be lesser size portions in more frequent amounts. On the Fatloss website, they call it “Calorie Shifting”: a different amount of calories to eat each day so the body is unable to establish a pattern of metabolism. Now, by lesser portions, I mean ‘whenever you feel like you’ve had enough, but not to full’, and by more frequent, I mean around every two and a half hours. The handbook you can download with purchase lists foods in their criteria that you can custom build into your own 11 day plan, but for those who want something more concrete, there is a ‘Diet Generator’, which will make a planner for you based on information you input. For eleven days, you confuse your body with a strict plan of lean proteins, fruits, veggies, some complex carbs (I even read of a day where you’d eat nothing but fruit. All day!), and for the twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth days, you can eat whatever you want. All of the food you use in your plan will be what you buy at the grocery store. There are no additional supplements you are forced, er, encouraged to buy. There is a sixty-day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the program, and the program is only designed for fourteen days (including the three eat-what-you-want days).

Once you subscribe to the Fat Loss 4 Idiots online program, you have full access to their site which allows you to select your preferred or favorite foods from their database. From here a day-by-day diet plan is generated. The foods that are part the program are primarily whole grain, high fiber, low calorie selections. Examples include fruits and vegetables, eggs, sandwiches of your choice, and oatmeal. Meals are laid out, alongside basic recipes when necessary. Overall, the Fat Loss 4 Idiots program provides a simple, use-friendly interface. The big questions, though, are does this highly touted program work and is it worth the $39 one-time charge for access to the Fat Loss 4 Idiots “On-Line Diet Generator”?
